"We love Yoko Ono and want to make sweet, sweet music with her," the Brooklynite and Hopewell Junction, NY native Russo tells three young girls on NYC’s M23 cross-town bus. And he means it. Russo is a die-hard fan of all things Ono: the music, the art, the woman. Jason and Lyndon Roeller (sax) had never performed the song before. And debuting "Oh Yoko!" on a city bus was their idea, not ours. We like that. Thank you, puppy.

The closest thing that One Take New York will do to a traditional rock video. But if Hopewell was willing to strip this anthemic album track (from Beautiful Targets) down to the bare bones (and freeze their asses off in the January winds of the East River) well, we thought it made sense to make Jason comfortable on a rock stage. Ha. Rock stage.

New York is a third-world city. The subway has rats. Cranes fall and crush buildings. Streets implode matter-of-factly, swallowing parked cars and pedestrians. Manhole covers electrocute dogs. It’s amazing anyone survives a day. But along the edge of Madison Square Park, the Big Apple dips a toe into the waters of modernity. Hopewell performs a new song – working title "Wouldn’t Know A Dollar," slated for the next album – from the comforts of The New New York. It’s wonderful what 25 cents still buys. I love New York.
