#93 Bon Iver (Part II)

(To watch the first part of this Take away show : Bon Iver (part I))

We already told the magic of this party. A magic which depended on the intimacy, of course, on the acoustic and the promiscuity, but also on the reciprocity. Between each song, Justin took a few minutes to talk to us, tell us how happy they were to be there, on that particular night, with a really small crowd.

#93.4 BON IVER - FLUME (SECOND TAKE)

After they entered the room by the balcony, played Flume, they asked once again to be closer to the audience. We could see the sun’s declining rays, and hear the noisy street, but we didn’t care, Justin was explaining that was how he wanted to play his songs. Perfect, that was how we wanted to listen to them.

#93.5 BON IVER - WOLVES (ACT I AND II)

Réal : Vincent Moon

Tourné à

In order not to miss a second of the show, Vincent Moon’s cameras stayed on the whole evening. There was nothing to miss, indeed, each song was a real gem. Plus, Bon Iver gave us two covers : the Bowerbirds’ "Olive Heart" and a song by John Prime. But Moon was just like everyone else on that night, he didn’t want to do the filming only, but also be thrilled, close his eyes and sway. So he abandoned his camera, it passed from hand to hand before Vincent took it back and moved gently among the people who were sitting while Justin was doing "Wolves", on which the band invited us to sing along with them, as they do in all of their shows...

#93.6 BON IVER - SKINNY LOVE

Réal : Vincent Moon

Tourné à

To give you a more precise recounting of the evening, we should have let a camera film the declining day, the ceiling light we switched off, the candles we put on the floor. When Sean and Mike left their chairs to let Justin sing Skinny Love, it was night-black.

Afterwards, there were hugs, sushis and some joints. Then we went down in the street. Liz Green was there, we sang in front of a carousel, on pavements, in the middle of the road, and then in a bar, we got drinks. We cannot show you everything, though, we have to keep some things to ourselves, just next to the conviction that we were going to organize other parties like this one. Thank you Bon Iver. Thanks to those who were there.

Bon Iver (Part II)

The beauty of skinny love and this footage is insane. I wish i was the there. The moment the drum kicks in.... wow..... Cliche but true: beauty and pain merged in 5 minutes of insane wonderful music... I will come over to Paris for the next gig if possible... or will help organize concerts an emporter in Amsterdam.

Thanks Blogotheque

Bon Iver (Part II)

Would love to hear those covers as mentioned — what I can see of them (showcased at the start of flume) they look just as good. Any chance of getting a little more?

Bon Iver (Part II)

Without words...other than the fact that a majority of these performances are filmed in an apartment directly across from my former apartment on Rue Tardieu (even the same floor, painful), I missed the recent show in Portland, where i now live(tragic), and the fact that Bon Iver is my current obsession (obvious). I count my lucky Blogotheque stars daily. Thanks for picking up after me.
